In an update posted on the company's forums, Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) has confirmed that it is aware of "customer sightings" on its 320 Series solid state drive. The 320 Series was first unveiled in March, and is the third-generation family of SSD from Intel, which is designing and making its own controller for its drives. With a bumped-up sequential write speed of 220Mbps, the 320 Series ups the performance ante for both consumer and business computers, and has received many positive reviews since its release.

However, some users have complained about the 320 Series reverting to an 8MB drive in the wake of a power failure or crash. A post on Intel's community site acknowledged the problem and asked users who have experienced any issues with their Intel SSD to contact the company. According to a report on Computerworld, Intel is offering a replacement for affected users until the issue is resolved--most likely via a firmware upgrade. The company has pledged to provide an update when it has more information.
