Intel income slips in Q2 earnings, reorg planned
July 19, 2006 — 8:01pm ET
Intel earned $885 million (15 cents a share) for its second quarter of 2006, compared to $2.04 billion (33 cents) last year, on revenue that decreased 13.2 percent to $8 billion. The success of arch-rival Advanced Micro Devices is the main reason for Intel's fall, experts say. In response, Intel recently announced some layoffs, and now a big reorganization is planned.
