Intel, EMC quarterly earnings disappoint
April 19, 2006 — 8:01pm ET
It's technology earnings season, and the results are mixed. Intel made a profit of $1.3 billion (23 cents per share) for the quarter, down a massive 38 percent from last year. Revenue was $8.9 billion, down 5 percent from last year. That's prompting an examination of how to save money and plug the flow of market share to rival Advanced Micro Devices, officials said. Meanwhile, EMC made $272.5 million last quarter (11 cents per share), up just 1 percent from last year. EMC's revenue of $2.55 billion was up 14 percent but didn't meet expectations.
