Now that IE7 has hit the street, it's time to start thinking about deployment. Microsoft has tipped their hat to the enterprise by delaying IE7's delivery via Automatic Update until November--giving IT departments time to ensure that their internal web apps are up to date and that they're ready to support the browser. The company has not yet set a date for pushing the browser onto users' desktops, choosing instead to gauge the level of support that the browser will require. "The more support calls it receives, the slower it will deploy the browser via Automatic Updates; the fewer calls it receives, the faster it will deploy." What's more, when the browser eventually does make its way into Automatic Update, users will be asked if they want to upgrade before the installation process begins.
