IDC cuts IT spending forecasts--again
The analysts over at IDC have reduced their projections of IT spending in 2009. This comes only months after a forecasted reduction that was announced in November, and hot on the heels of news last week that worldwide server revenue is experiencing the largest drop in years.
According to an article in The Register, hardware spending is actually expected to decline by 16 percent in the United States, while global hardware sales are expected to take a hit of 3.6 percent. On the brighter side, IT spending is expected to recover somewhat in 2010, that's what Stephen Minton, vice president of worldwide markets and strategies at IDC believes anyway.
Minton noted, "While the outlook for 2009 is now worse than we thought just three months ago, we still expect IT spending to recover somewhat in 2010 and gain momentum through the rest of the forecast period."
