Just when you think you've got identity theft worries under control, along comes a new warning. According to news on wired.com, experts are warning that photocopiers are the next threat when it comes to identity theft. The new generation of digital copiers now sport disk drives to reproduce documents. These storage features allow the machines to hold on to the data that's scanned. Copier makers, including Sharp, are adding security features to new models, but experts say many machines in public spaces as well as private businesses probably do not have any built-in security. Sharp said it would issue a warning this week--just in time to alert citizens flooding Kinkos and UPS stores as they reproduce documents for tax--which, by the way, falls on April 17 this year.
