ICANN to consider defenses against attacks

ICANN's security committee will meet in New Zealand later this month to discuss new ways of stopping distributed denial-of-service attacks. Such attacks are not only becoming commonplace, they're also becoming more powerful and easier to launch, experts say. A flare of attacks in January and February would have crashed most Web sites, but luckily it was contained early.
