ICANN plays down US influence
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, facing recent worldwide criticism for its operations, is taking new steps to change its US-centricness. For example, they're working on a new .asia top-level domain which would be optimized for Asian-language character sets. They are also working to execute the compromise reached at the recent Tunis summit, whereby other nations and organizations will have a formal method of sharing advice and comments with ICANN.
