IBM to expand catalog of AMD servers
IBM today announced five new high-end servers with AMD Opteron chips. The announcement brings IBM's server line back even with rivals HP and Sun. The servers are of traditional and blade varieties, the latter with a new snap-in setup option. IBM also previewed a tool called thermal dynamics which monitors for heat spikes and reacts by activating precise cooling systems.
