Open code is hardly just about Linux, so IBM will invest heavily to make open-source a serious part of its software and services portfolio, officials said at the LinuxWorld conference. Client-side middleware, data-related servers, development tools, grids, hardware architecture, online application servers and systems management are some of the areas where IBM open-source code will be more important in the near future. As for Linux itself, IBM has 15,000 business customers and is also working on kernel and security technologies.
