Mercury Computer Systems early next year plans to ship blade servers with a dual-core version of IBM's Cell processor. (Technically it's an 18-way server because each Cell has nine processors inside.) Mercury is working with applications vendors to create a supply of Cell-tailored software, and IBM is doing the same with Linux. Sony and Toshiba also helped build the Cell; blade pricing wasn't announced.
