IBM buys usage monitoring software vendor

IBM is acquiring usage monitoring specialist CIMS Lab in anticipation of increasing customer demand for utility-style software sales. CIMS' software can also be used by customers directly to meter internal chargeback accounts. IBM will bundle the software with IBM Director and with various Tivoli wares, officials said. The merger timeline is unknown and terms of the deal were not announced.
