IBM by the end of this year plans to ship its eight-way P5-575 server with new dual-core chips, effectively making it into a 16-way server, IBM officials said ahead of this week's International Supercomputer Conference. Up to 128 of the servers can be clustered together, although they require non-standard 24-inch racks. Users can choose from AIX or Linux, with 256GB of memory.
