IBM acquiring ISS for $1.3B in cash
IBM recently announced that it's buying Internet Security Systems for $1.3 billion. ISS makes network monitoring and analysis services for large companies such as banks and universities and they're said to have 11,000 customers. Meanwhile, IBM's got Oracle-itis: the deal is IBM's third acquisition of a publicly-owned company this month, the others being FileNet for $1.6 billion and MRO Software for $740 million. So with these new tools in its arsenal for administering networks, content, and assets, what is Big Blue's new strategy? Hopefully we'll all find out soon.
