I-O data recalls hard drive AC adapters
Users of I-O Data external hard drives beware: the company has issued a recall of AC adapters for certain models of hard drives, due to a defect that can lead to overheating and melting. The affected hard drives are the UHDL-160U and UHDL-300U models, which were sold between December 2004 and February 2007; the affected AC adaptor bears the model number IO-ACADP1510UL. While no serious injury resulting from the adapters has been reported yet, the Consumer Product Safety Commission is urging users to immediately stop using the products in question and to return the devices for a replacement, as the AC adapters pose a potential fire hazard.
