HP MediaSmart home servers delayed
It's no secret that we here at DailyTechRag are pretty jazzed up for the impending release of Windows Home Server. So you can imagine our disappointment upon hearing that HP's forthcoming MediaSmart line of WHS machines will be delayed "by possibly months," in order to allow Microsoft to make a few last minute tweaks to the Windows Home Server OS. Apparently the folks in Redmond have "identified a number of ways to make the product even better since the initial release." Microsoft is looking to further simplify the setup process, improve the reliability of remote server access and add automatic router and firewall setup tools. HP had originally planned to ship the MediaSmart boxes in late September; now it's looking like they'll be available in late fall, just in time for the holidays.
