HP demonstrates Snapdragon-based netbook
Computer maker Hewlett Packard has demonstrated a prototype netbook that is based on the Snapdragon processor by Qualcomm. Up until now, the market has been almost completely dominated by Intel, with its popular Atom processors for netbooks. The Snapdragon has been getting good reviews though, and is making its way into a number of smartphones that should be arriving on the market soon.
What I find so attractive about the Snapdragon processor is the fact that it is power efficient enough to power a small computer for 24 hours on a single charge, and it is also optimized for mobile data usage. Despite its lower clock speed, the use of Linux or Google's Android means that it should perform similarly to Atom chips typically burdened with a full-fledged desktop operating system.
