How to: Automate your backup process
Like many a MacBook-slinging road warrior, I use my trusty laptop as my primary machine. This poses a unique set of challenges to the digitally aware among us: what would happen if your laptop was lost, stolen or somehow destroyed? To avoid heartbreak of the highest order, I run weekly backups of my machine's internal hard drive onto an external 200GB firewire drive, which doubles as a music server. But I have to remember to actually run the backup or else I'm out of luck. Engadget has a handy, step-by-step guide that shows you how to use SSH and Rsync to automatically back up your precious hard drive to either a network or local drive, so you'll never have to worry about losing those precious Kevin Federline MP3s again.
