RIM's (NASDAQ: RIMM) new series of BlackBerrys is slated to come with much-improved hardware, but how will they compare to the wildly popular iPhone 4 and Android-powered Galaxy S II? InfoWorld's Galen Gruman lines up the three phones' specs side-by-side for a sneak preview.

The new BlackBerrys are thicker than Apple's iPhone 4 and Samsung's Galaxy S II, but they are all about the same height. RIM's new phones have screens about the size of Apple's wunderphone, but none of them are as big as the Samsung device. As for screen resolution, the BlackBerrys offer about the same quality as the Galaxy S II, but both are outpaced by the iPhone 4 in this category.

In the weight category, the Galaxy S II prevails, coming in at 4.1 ounces. The weights of the new BlackBerry Bold 9900, Torch 9850 and Torch 9860 are in the same ballpark as the iPhone.

When it comes to processing speed, the new BlackBerrys just barely win out over the iPhone 4, but here again the Samsung, which uses a dual-core processor, has a lead. The Galaxy S II also beats out the competition in the camera image resolution category, with 8 megapixels compared to the 5 megapixels offered by the others.

As for keyboards, two of the new BlackBerrys--the Bold 9900 and the Torch 9810--come with slide-out options. The Torch 9810 also has an on-screen option, which is the only option on the other new Torch models and on the iPhone 4 and Galaxy S II.
