Google phone rumors persist
Let me put my cards on the table: I've never put much stock in the rumors of an impending Google Phone. Given that there has been little evidence aside from some blurry photos and industry conjecture, the possibility of Google wireless hardware has seemed remote. Yet, somehow, the rumors of a Google phone just fail to die. Wishful thinking? The latest word, from a "reliable inside source," of course, is that the phone will be a "Blackberry-like, slick device." It would, allegedly, run Java on a C++ core and would rely on graphics technology from Skia, a virtually unknown company that Google acquired in 2005,which specializes in rendering images on low-power devices. Finally, the rumor claims that Google will market and sell the phone online, for use with multiple carriers. Is Google really prepping an iPhone competitor, or is this all just wishful thinking?
