Ah, the Google Phone. It seems like it was only yesterday when we were alerted to the possibility of your existence, quickly convinced of your bogusness, reminded again of your presence and ultimately, completely convinced that you are, in fact, a mere apparition. But some rumors just refuse to die and the questionable scribes at DigiTimes, while keeping their ear close to the ground in the land of gadget manufacturing, have unearthed some new rumblings about the oft-rumored device. The story now goes a little something like this: the phone is being manufactured in Taiwan by HTC, will feature Texas Instruments' 3G platform with EDGE, will ship with Gmail and Google Maps pre-installed (natch) and will land in your hot little hands by the end of 2007. Additionally, the unit will no longer have either a built-in GPS module or HSDPA support, will sport dual branding (Google and the carrier) and will run on the Orange network in Europe. While no one will deny the fact that a Google Phone would be cool, given how often this story has changed, it's a bit difficult to take seriously.
