Google Desktop does Linux

If you're a Linux user and you've been jonesing to get in on the Google Desktop action, I've finally got some good news for you: Google has released a beta Linux version of its popular desktop software, completing the OS X/Windows/Linux triumvirate.

As you probably know, Google Desktop allows you to search the web as well as your own local drive and can also allow offline Gmail and Web history access. Google Desktop for Linux supports the Debian 4.0, Fedora Core 6, Ubuntu 6.10, Novell Suse 10.1 and Red Flag 5 versions of Linux, either the KDE or GNOME GUIs and only runs on x86-based machines.
