Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) chief Eric Schmidt has spoken again, this time about Google's new Chromium OS based netbook. Well, the much-anticipated netbooks are expected to hit retail shelves by the end of this year, or early next year, and will be priced in the range of $300 to $400.

In a video posted on YouTube just last week, Schmidt may have referred to the cost of its Chrome OS-based netbook as well as the its Android-based tablet when he said "Those prices are completely determined by the costs of the glass, the costs of the processor and things like that. But in our case Chrome OS and Android are free so there is no software tax associated with all of this."

You can catch the 41-minute video here, in which Eric Schmidt answers a range of questions about Google and its future direction.
