Gmail Keeper for backing up your Gmail account
The recent Gmail outage had me looking out for solutions that can perform fuss-free and regular backups of my Gmail account. There are apparently a number of such products around, though Gmail Keeper seems to have clinched the kudos where its capabilities are concerned. Gmail Keeper downloads emails via a secure connection to Gmail and stores them locally as standard EML files. Support for labels and automation means that regular backups can be scheduled, and the software can be used to transfer emails to another Gmail or Apps account.
