Gartner: 20 ways to cut costs in IT
Network World's Neal Weinberg has compiled a list of 20 ways--suggested by analysts from Gartner--IT executives can reduce expenses in these tough economic times. As expected, some of the top methods on the list have to do with reducing personnel costs. The first recommendation is to use a series of hiring freezes and cut back on the use outside contractors. Another solution is to flatten the organization by having managers and supervisors head larger teams. This would cut down on reporting inefficiencies. Rather than working in a "silo" manner, another way to eliminate redundancies might be to pool resources into shared services for greater efficiencies.
