Fujitsu's new drives rock around the clock
With the recent trend for eco-friendly, energy-saving devices having finally reached the hard drive world, you would probably be surprised to hear one manufacturer is bucking the trend by releasing hard drives that suck up extra power. Fujitsu's new MHY2 BS Series of 2.5" drives are designed to withstand up to 24-hours of continuous operation without missing a beat. Intended for use in "industrial equipment, such as ATMs, POS systems, and medical equipment" as well as demanding enterprise systems, the 5,400 RPM SATA drives will be available in sizes ranging up to 200GB at the end of August. What's more, the drives will come with "features that minimize the effects of rotational vibration" baked-in, helping to reduce the effects of wear-and-tear.
