Fujitsu announced this week that it has successfully overcome design hurdles with wireless charging, and that it plans to incorporate wireless charging technology in its product in 2012. In fact, various manufacturers have been working on it over the last few years, including the consortium that created the Qi (Pronounced "chee") standard.

Unlike the inductive coupling used by Qi, Fujitsu says that its system is based on magnetic resonance. The company says this allows designs of at least 85 percent power efficiency to be achieved, a startling figure to say the least. Fujitsu will be detailing its system at the 2010 conference of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) in Japan this week.
