Fujitsu Lifebook U810 UMPC thinks its a tablet

Fans of UMPCs are few and far between but if you happen to count yourself among the ranks of the ultraportable faithful, Fujitsu's latest handheld tablet is definitely worth a look. Eschewing the usual UMPC look, the Lifebook U810 looks more like a miniaturized version of a convertible tablet. Don't be fooled by the U810's small build, however, there's quite a bit of heavy machinery under the hood, including an Intel A110 processor running at 800Mhz, 1GB RAM, a 40GB hard drive, a 5.6" LCD display, SD/CF card slots, a fingerprint scanner, built-in Bluetooth, a VGA camera and 802.11a/b/g support. Topping off the package is the unit's 5.5 hours of battery life, light weight (1.5 pounds) and equally light price: $999. If portability is your thing, you'll be happy to hear that the U810 will ship on Sept. 18, with Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed.
