Fujitsu breaks laptop speed, storage records

Fujitsu announced today that it has broken speed and storage records for a laptop drive with its new MHW2 BJ HDD. Using perpendicular magnetic recording, the company has managed to cram 160GB of storage into a 7,200 rpm, 2.5" drive. I must say, that's one fast, capacious laptop drive. The drive uses a 3.0 Gb/s serial ATA interface and perhaps most excitingly, only uses a maximum of 2.3 watts of power--helping you stream Lawrence of Arabia in its entirety from your hard drive without recharging. The drive will ship to OEMs in May and should start appearing in high-end portables this summer.
