Four options considered in UN 'net governance

Despite the US government's recent assertion that it will keep control of the Internet root servers, a United Nations panel is actively considering new ways to distribute that control among several countries. There are four plans ranging from keeping the current ICANN system to a total naming system makeover. Of deeper relevance to enterprises is the idea suggested by some, particularly China and others averse to US policy, of making an all-new and separate network.
