Foundry Networks in July will add the popular open-source Snort security software into its network switches and management software. Snort will inspect all data to all ports on network layers 2-7 and will trigger customer-defined actions if it finds anything insecure, officials explained. Typically, Snort runs on separate servers, so for customers it's a matter of convenience. Foundry's software aspect will be IronView Network Manager 2.0 and will cost $10,000.
