First look: Firefox 3.0 Alpha

Yesterday we briefly noted that Firefox 3.0 Alpha has been released although the new build will likely only be of interest to developers, as most of the differences from the current version exist under the surface. Still, I know that there isn't a geek alive who can stifle his or her curiosity--especially when it comes to a new version of Firefox. So it's a good thing that the folks over at Ars Technica have decided to give the rest of us a look under the hood. The major changes come in the form of Firefox's new Gecko rendering engine, which utilizes the open-source Cairo rendering framework to finally allow the browser to address some CSS bugs--and to pass the infamous Acid 2 test.
