If tests of a pre-release version conducted by a browser enthusiast are to be believed, Firefox 3.7 should be one step closer to competing with Microsoft Internet Explorer and Google Chrome in terms of performance. Blogger Benjamin Auffarth noted that support for multiple processors or multiple cores can also be found in the development build of Firefox he tested, a feature that is noticeably absent from the current stable release of the open-source web browser.

Upon further testing, Auffarth discovered that JavaScript performance has been greatly improved when compared against Firefox 3.5.  Auffarth eventually concludes that "Firefox is going to improve a lot in speed in upcoming versions, though Firefox still has far to go where JavaScript is concerned: "Chrome is now about 3 times faster than Firefox in JavaScript performance."
