Facebook unveils video calling, group chat after deal with Skype
Facebook launched several new features on Wednesday, including video calling, the result of a deal with Skype. Initiating a video conversation with a friend is as simple as clicking on the new video-call button at the top of a chat window, and is touted by the social networking giant as "the easiest way to get connected with video." According to Facebook, a setup process is required the first time video chat is initiated. The feature is officially supported for the latest versions of Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Safari.
The company also unveiled a group-chat feature. According to CNET, Facebook has tweaked its chat tool so that it will "adjust in size based on the user's browser window to make it easier to chat." The new features are being rolled out gradually, though those eager to give video calling a try can visit the video calling page directly.
