EU comes after Microsoft license fees

The European Commission is about to formally accuse Microsoft of overcharging for some of its Windows software licenses. Microsoft has repeatedly ignored a 2004 antitrust ruling by the EU, which fined the software giant 497 million euros and required it to open parts of its OS code to manufacturers of rival products, and this seems to be the regulatory body's response. The "statement of objections" is expected to come down by the end of July or in the fall, with more fines likely to follow.
