Ellison: Oracle likes on-demand software

Yesterday was Larry Ellison's turn to speak at Oracle OpenWorld. As always, he gave a keynote and a press conference. On his mind this time: Oracle will support, not smother, Siebel's hosted applications and Oracle's own as well; there's no decision yet about whether to support non-Oracle databases for Oracle applications; Siebel's Project Nexus services design won't last; Oracle's databases are still mostly un-hackable, but there won't be standard update schedules. On the business side, Oracle -- currently about a $15 billion company -- will become a $30 billion company in a few years, the chairman, CEO, and co-founder intends.
