This week's big news was Microsoft releasing Windows Vista Beta 2. The early reports by testers are mixed, and I'm still looking forward to hearing from any testers among our readership. However, the feature I'm personally most excited about, which might not even be in Vista until R2 in 2008 or 2009, is the as yet unnamed RAM-sharing technology. Computers could borrow available RAM from other computers through a network, and there could even be entire RAM farm servers, similar to NAS and SAN technology in the storage universe. How cool is that? (Answer: Very.)
Also, we're not publishing Monday, since we'll be overdosing on beer, hamburgers and that intoxicating barbecue smell for Memorial Day. Whatever happens, we certainly won't be thinking about enterprise information technology, but we will remember our relatives, friends and ordinary countrymen in the military both past and present. - Evan
