DST change: phone woes now, apocalypse later
Unless you've been living under a rock this past week (and not reading DailyTechRag whilst under that rock, for shame), you'll likely know that Daylight Savings Time went into effect this past Sunday, at 2:00 am. Your phone, however, may not know that. While early reports seem to indicate that everything--yes, including Microsoft software--is running smoothly, in an unexpected twist, it appears that a few wireless phones were tripped up by the early time change. While my trusty Nokia running on Cingular faired well, my colleague Brian Dolan, of FierceWireless, wasn't so lucky with his high-tech handset (oh, the irony). Same goes for George Ou over at ZDnet, who encountered some problems on the Sprint network. If you ask me, enabling the auto-updating of date/time as the default on a phone is a no-brainer--and if Microsoft can figure it out, surely the rest of the world can too.
