Download pages at MSDN, TechNet crash as subscribers scramble for Windows 7 RC

Not for the first time, Microsoft servers ran into difficulty serving folks who are trying to download the latest pre-released version of its Windows 7 operating system. Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC) was delivered to subscribers of its MSDN and TechNet services, though the download sites were offline as of noon Eastern Time.

This incident mirrored what happened when Windows 7 Beta was made available to the public in January of this year. In the previous case though, the MSDN and TechNet release occurred without any incident. For the rest of us, Windows 7 RC is slated to be available for the general public on May 5. Let's hope that Microsoft would have resolved any lingering download issues by then.
