Dell rolls out laptops with ultra-high resolution displays
Expect to see many more high-resolution displays appearing in laptops--if new laptops released by Dell are any indication of future trends. Dell earlier this week unveiled a bunch of new laptops, including updated versions of its popular models that come with the new Intel Haswell microprocessors.
More interesting, though, would be the new models that come with ultra-high resolution displays. The new Dell XPS 15 laptop, for example, has a 15.6-inch touchscreen display sporting a staggering high resolution of 3200x1800. With 5.7 million pixels, this quad HD+ display beats Apple's Retina displays flat out and appears to be an excellent candidate for spreadsheets and web browsing.
The smaller XPS 11 has a lower, but still impressive 2560x1440 resolution packed into an 11.6-inch IPS touchscreen. This essentially offers the same resolution as the MacBook Pro 13 Retina, but should be much sharper thanks to the higher pixels per inch.
