Dell releases 30" LCD with DisplayPort

Mamma Mia! That's a whole lot of display. We've been hearing about this one for a while now, so it's nice to finally see it in all of its huge, expensive glory. You're looking at Dell's new flagship 30" LCD display, the Ultrasharp 3008WFP, which sports a number of impressive features like a native 2560 x 1600 resolution (known to some as 1600p), an 8ms response time, a 3000:1 contrast ratio and all the ports you'll ever need: DVI-D (with HDCP), HDMI, S-Video, component, composite and for the first time in a commercial monitor, DisplayPort. What's DisplayPort, you ask? Why, it's the next-gen standard that delivers high-quality digital audio and video via a small, USB-sized connector. Sure, you might not actually have a video card that supports DisplayPort yet but if you're going to buy an expensive display, you might as well buy one that's relatively future-proof. Speaking of expensive, all this cutting-edge hotness comes at a price: $2,034, just about double what Dell's older 30" display retails for.
