Dell outs new hardware, so long Dimension desktop
When it comes to keeping its upcoming products under tight wraps, Dell is no Apple. However, just because we saw this coming from a mile away, doesn't mean we're not excited: Dell has unleashed an avalanche of new hardware spanning its consumer and enterprise lines, ensuring that there's something for everyone (well, except for the Mac fans).
First, the new laptops: As expected, the new Inspirons sports Santa Rosa chipsets and some wild colors (photo). More exciting, though is the ultra-portable m1330, which crams an LED-back-lit display and 32GB SSD into a .9-inch case--making it "the world's thinnest 13.3" notebook" (photo).

On the desktop front, Dell is dropping its familiar Dimension moniker just shy of its 15th birthday, in favor of new desktops and displays under the Inspiron brand (which previously was reserved for laptops). The gussied-up new Inspiron towers and minitowers can be configured to order with your AMD or Intel flavors of choice, not to mention 500GB hard drives and a Blu-ray drive or two. Meanwhile, the new lineup of displays includes the 2407WFP-HC, the "high color" version of Dell's beloved 24-inch LCD display. What exactly does "high color" mean? Well, it means this bad boy is capable of displaying 92 percent of the color gamut, which should raise a few eyebrows in the offices of creative professionals.
