Data centers becoming smaller, faster
Data center technologies hyped during the past decade are finally starting to have tangible benefits, IDC analysts say. Examples are server and storage virtualization, self-healing networks, automated provisioning, and various fail-over and hot-swappable hardware components. The actual technology isn't cutting-edge, but regulatory policies and the trend of increased IT spending in the past few years are what's pushing the hyped products into becoming mainstream ones.
