Consumer groups slam AT&T-BellSouth

Data centers and online services worldwide could be affected by AT&T's proposed $67 billion acquisition of BellSouth, which would basically create an AT&T-Verizon duopoly in the U.S. telecom sector. Now, the Consumer Federation of America and Consumer Union are both expressing strong opposition. "Congress and federal regulators need to look carefully at the lifeless 'competition' their flawed policies have created and reject this merger," CU officials said.
