Cognos, Hyperion seek BI advantage

Cognos and Hyperion, giants of the business intelligence software market, are each planning major upgrades for later this summer. Cognos' Performance Management System gives users a wide variety of dashboard, management, and security features -- nearly a whole car to run atop your IT engine and drivetrain. Hyperion has Project Avalanche, which is similar to Cognos' vision. Avalanche gets another update next year, focusing on the integration of wide-area data nodes.
