Cognos'big step in BI software
Cognos 8 Business Intelligence, due in November, combines and upgrades five current products: ReportNet, PowerPlay, NoticeCast, Metrics Manager, and DecisionStream ETL. The new suite is service-based, meaning that users can tinker with only the parts they need and, in theory, move the parts around and replace them post-implementation. Revamped event management, data scorecards, and the ability to determine the best- and worst-performing data are also new.
