CNET guesses iPhone date: Close but no cigar, I say

In a post to their Gadgets Blog, CNET made a gutsy prediction: they're throwing their reputation behind a June 11th release date for the iPhone. Their evidence? The good word of an AT&T sales rep and the fact that the date lines up with the first day of Apple's WWDC. Here's what I think: it's bunk. As any good Apple fanboy knows, Apple always releases new products on Tuesdays and as it turns out, the 11th is a Monday. Given the amount of concessions that Apple has already received from AT&T, it's not likely that they're going to compromise over the release date, of all things. Furthermore, Stevenotes are often delivered on the second day of a conference, not the first--and we all know that Steve wants to stand on stage to announce the iPhone's availability. So here's my prediction: June 12th. Mark your calendars, folks.
