In tandem with chip maker Broadcom, network giant Cisco has developed one of the fastest cable modems based on the DOCSIS 3.0 standard to date. By bonding up to eight cable channels, the DPC3212 cable modem is able to reach a blistering download speed of 320Mbps, or twice the minimum as specified in the DOCSIS 3.0 standard.

In addition, the cable modem is also able to achieve an upload speed of 80Mbps, and also feature spare capacity to cater to cable providers offering VoIP services. Cisco hoped to submit the device to CableLabs for certification within the next few months, and begin distribution in mid-2010
