Chrome 2 announced, 30 percent faster

A new stable version of Chrome is now available for download, even as it is being automatically rolled out to current users. Internally dubbed as Chrome 2, Google claims that the update is now up to 30 percent faster when loading JavaScript-heavy pages. Darin Fisher, of the Google Chrome Team, wrote in the Official Google Blog: "Additionally, we've added some useful features like form autofill, full screen mode, and the ability to remove thumbnails from the New Tab page."

Chrome has generated interest due to its unique architecture that completely separates the content of each tab. As such, users are able to monitor the actual memory consumption of a site, and crashes in any tab will not bring down the other tabs. Chrome commands 2 percent of the browser market at the moment, according to an April 2009 report by research firm Forrester.
