Flaws have been discovered in Computer Associates' BrightStor Enterprise and BrightStore ARCserve backup software, researchers at iDefense found and CA officials confirmed. By sending special requests (which are easily found on the Internet) to BrightStor's agent software, attackers can cause a buffer overflow and gain control of systems. A patch is available, or administrators can just block remote access to the agent software. The bug is rated critical.
